Autumn's glory shimmers in the afternoon sun. Maples of various hues reach toward the blue autumn sky. Looking back toward the meadow, the last of the yard trees show off their autumn coats. The Ocqueoc River flows back and forth, meandering its way to Lake Huron. The flow of the river gets caught up in some dead tree limbs, causing the water to foam. There are many birch trees along the Ocqueoc, as well as poplars, oaks, maples, and evergreens. Although they are called waterfalls, the lower and upper falls are more rapids than falls. Still, they cascade beautifully. Meditation and contemplation are perfect activities at the falls. The lower falls end and the river continues its journey to the great inland sea. The upper falls are a little bigger and more dramatic. They offer little pools and eddies that surely offer relief from the summer heat! The Ocqueoc Falls Highway bridge is a "newer" span over these meandering waters. Once upon a time, an old narrow bridge crossed the river a little further south of the current bridge.
