I've been singing since the age of nine, playing the guitar since I was 10, and started writing music about 18 years ago. Several of my songs have been recognized by different organizations for the quality of composition and performance. To see a list, check out the awards page.
My writing encompasses many styles including blues, rock, and jazz. I like to mix things up in the melody blender and see what flavor emerges. I write about social issues, the human condition, and on occasion, love.
In addition to creating rhythmically
and melodically progressive music, I try to present an entertaining stage when performing. Dynamics, rhythm, and
my
unique and clear voice combine to tell the story in ways most other
performers do not.
I put my body and soul into the presentation of each song. A good sense of humor has always allowed me positive interaction with the audience. I've been told that I'm compelling to watch as well as to hear. I've been appearing in concert and at festivals for more than 10 years.
For
three seasons, it was my honor and pleasure to produce and host the
Keeping Company concert series at the Catherine A. Hickman Theater in
Gulfport, Florida. This concert series was an interactive Nashville round
featuring songwriters from around the state of Florida and the United States.
In 2008,
I started a new concert series up here in Presque Isle County, MI. The
Song Pull concert series features performing
songwriters from around the state of Michigan and beyond in an interactive song
swap. Be prepared for an intimate afternoon of laughter and song in an
eclectic setting, where the audience plays an important part of the show!
What do you get when you mix a world-class lead guitarist with an eclectic songwriter? Gemini Moon! This is the musical alliance between Jodi Brege and me. We are a bit jazzy, and a lot of fun! We're on hiatus, but one day, we'll get back to the business of making music together!
